Reading for Success
Do you like to work with kids? Can you spare one hour a week to help a child develop reading skills? If so, consider becoming a reading tutor through Northwest’s Reading for Success tutoring program. Choose to volunteer at Northwest on Wednesday evenings or at Emerson Elementary School during the week for one hour, once a week. No previous experience is required; we will equip you to help a child succeed!

Come build lasting relationships and show a child and his or her family that you care!

Informational Meeting
Sunday, Jan. 21st, following 10:30am service (45min) – Fellowship Hall

We will cover tutoring logistics, commitment expectations, and participation requirements. Additionally, we will discuss the larger vision behind Northwest’s decision to relaunch Reading for Success as an Outreach Ministry at this time and how it fits into our overall church plan to meet our neighbors’ needs in a way that expresses the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

Training Session (mandatory)
Attend either of these two sessions:

Wednesday, Jan. 24th 5:30pm (2 hours) – Room TBA
Sunday, Jan. 28th following 10:30am service (2 hours) – Room TBA

We will cover all of the basics to assure tutors feel equipped to help a young person succeed in reading during this engaging and interactive session. Required for all tutors, but you only need to attend one session.

Orientation Dinner

Come for dinner, meet the students and their families as they learn about the ministry. Please email Bonnie Lee if you plan to attend.
