Vacation Bible School
Every summer, Northwest hosts a week-long Vacation Bible School for both preschool and school age children. Children participate in worship, music, crafts, mission studies, recreation, and Bible studies.

At Northwest, we provide many opportunities for our students in grades 7-12 to connect with God, connect with each other, and to grow in their faith. New or visiting students are welcome to participate in any of the programs we offer.
Bible Study
On Sunday mornings, our students meet for Bible Study from 9:00 am to 10:00 am in the Youth Room in the Education Building. Students meet together for announcements and prayer before breaking into Middle and High School groups.
On Wednesday nights, we encourage our Youth to serve through one of the other ministries that go on at Northwest (TeamKID, Reading For Success, etc). For those who have a lot of homework, we also offer a study space in our Youth Room from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
Youth LIFE Groups
Our Youth LIFE Groups meet weekly throughout the school year. These groups are in-home Bible studies where our students can explore the Bible in a comfortable setting while seeking to discover how the Bible applies to their lives today.
Special Events

Other opportunities such as summer camps, winter retreats, the “30 Hour Famine” (a hunger relief event), the “Mosquito Feed” (a yearly end-of-summer campout) and other get-togethers are offered throughout the year.
We strive to help people experience a personal relationship with God and mature in their faith. We call this process Worship-Grow-Serve. We believe that people experience God in worship, grow in faith in small groups, and respond to this life changing experience in service to others in Jesus name.

Worship Service — Sundays at 10:30 am.

Note: On the 1st Sunday of every month, we have a fellowship breakfast at 9:00 am, with the Worship Service following at 10:30 am.

The Worship ministry has many areas including Worship Team, Worship Enhancement Team and Worship Planning Team. There are periodic special choirs and drama opportunities as well.

Small Groups
Northwest is committed to helping people grow in their walk with Jesus Christ. We believe that God created us for relationships, both with him and with other people. For this reason, we are committed to the small group context as being a central place for true discipleship to happen. Small Groups strengthen Biblical knowledge and application, develop relationships, create opportunities for service, and provide a safe place for non-members to experience the Good News of Christ.
There are two types of Small Groups at Northwest:

  • LIFE Groups meet weekly or biweekly, offering an in-home, Bible-based study. LIFE Groups are highly effective places to grow in Christ, and to build relationships with others.
  • Care Groups/Adult Bible Studies meet at the church every Sunday morning at 9:00 am. These groups study the Bible together, care for needs of group members, serve the community together, and enjoy opportunities to fellowship with each other.

Community Ministries

Following the teaching of Jesus, we at Northwest feel a strong desire to reach out to everyone in our community. We endeavor to have an impact on people’s lives by addressing some of their physical needs, while understanding the importance of meeting spiritual needs as well.
Community Ministries is a wonderful mission field because it gives us a chance to meet people where they are and to share our joy and hope with them.
Community Ministries has several ongoing teams, including:

The Park Ministry is a unique opportunity to connect with our neighbors and community directly, in an outdoor park setting. Once a week during the summer months, we gather together in Madison Park, which is located a few blocks away from Northwest. We offer free hot dogs, water, and the love of Jesus Christ with park patrons.

Church Planting

At Northwest we believe it is the responsibility of the local church, in cooperation with other agencies, to start new churches. It is because of this Kingdom-of-God mentality that the Lord has allowed us to start six new churches that are continuing to grow today. They are:

  • Brown Deer Baptist (started in 1959)
  • Southeast Baptist (1960)
  • Crossroads Church (formerly First Baptist of Pewaukee) (1975)
  • Hmong First Baptist (1985)
  • Graceland Community Church (1997)
  • Emmaus Fellowship (2000)

As Northwest grows, we will continue to plant new churches throughout the Milwaukee Metropolitan Area because we feel that God’s Kingdom is bigger than any one church.

Men’s Ministries

The Men’s Ministry is designed to reach men of all ages, colors, nationalities, and backgrounds.
We are a Christ-centered group of men who study the Bible and who share with each other our problems, concerns and disappointments, along with our praises and joys.
Part of the power we have as men comes from confiding in and sharing with one another, as well as through studying God’s word and having fun together. We have various programs to encourage these activities. Every summer, we have a men’s retreat.
As our men’s ministry continues to grow, the Lord continues to show us where we can strengthen our ministry and our men.

Women’s Ministries

The mission of Northwest’s Women’s Ministry is to connect women to the heart of God, other women, the church, and the community.
Throughout the year, the women’s ministry offers Bible studies, fellowships, service opportunities, a Christmas party, and an annual retreat. Both the Women on Mission and the WMU groups gather together to study God’s Word and to pray for our missionaries throughout the world. Northwest’s women’s retreat is built on the vision of women being restored, renewed, and refreshed by Jesus Christ. By sharing friendships, faith, love, and support, we can offer hope and growth to all the women we reach.

Senior Ministries

While the name Senior Adult may remind some of a reality they would rather not think about, at Northwest we celebrate how God provides extraordinary gifts and potential at any age in a life surrendered to our Lord Jesus Christ. We have developed a ministry to and through Senior Adults. We vary greatly in age, energy level and interest, but unity with diversity is the banner we wave!
