Rev. Paul Springer, Jr.

Pastor Springer comes to NWBC from Transformed Life Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois, where he served as Church Planter and Lead Pastor. Serving urban congregations through internships, one with the North American Mission Board, as well as church Elder and Worship Director, has allowed Rev. Springer to explore his passion: finding meaningful ways to connect with and minister to people from a multiplicity of backgrounds. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Wheaton College and a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

Paul and Melissa Springer have been married since 2000 and have four beautiful children, Paul III (11), Jacob (9), Emily (7) and Isabella (4). Melissa grew up in Tokyo, Japan, a child of Christian missionaries, and shares a deep concern that all people experience Christ’s love and freedom.

Rev. Don Rogers

Associate Pastor

Pastor Donald Rogers is Northwest’s Associate Pastor since December 2016.  He had previously served as Marriage and Family Director since August 2014. Rev. Rogers continues to support and expand his service as Marriage and Family Pastor through counseling, equip families seeking to strengthen marital and parenting roles and collaborate with various team leaders to create events and activities that support the families of our church. As Associate Pastor, Rev. Rogers works under the leadership of the Senior Pastor and closely with the Leadership Team and Deacon body.  

Donald married the former Karen Wilhite on August 19, 1995 and is the proud stepfather of Kenneth and Karlton.

Pastor Don has served in various ministerial positions which include: Associate Minister (Christ the King Baptist Church), Ministry Advisor (Future Kings Leadership Group), Sunday School teacher, Musical Director (Greater Future Baptist Church, and More Light Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan).

Pastor Don is a graduate of Central Theological Seminary, where he received a degree in Religious Studies in 2015.

Rev. Bill Gaethke

Pastor Bill joined the pastoral staff at Northwest Baptist Church on July 1, 2011 as an associate pastor overseeing the church’s Community Outreach and Guest Ministries programs. Bill currently serves as the church’s Executive Pastor and church moderator. His past service at Northwest includes: serving as a deacon, deacon chairman, and director of discipleship as well as preaching and Bible teaching.

Bill attended the Southern Baptist Seminary Extension program through Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY. He has served as an interim pastor at Southeast Baptist Church in South Milwaukee, and provided pulpit supply preaching for many of our sister churches within the six southeastern counties of Wisconsin.

Rev. Gaethke and his wife Evelyn are long-time members at Northwest. They enjoy golfing and fishing, and have three grown children and eleven grandchildren. Bill is also a retired Milwaukee police sergeant, having served the citizens of Milwaukee as a police officer for 32 years.

Matt Lee

Worship Director

Matt Lee has been Worship Director at Northwest Baptist Church since 2003. His role is to oversee the worship ministry at Northwest . His roles include helping plan and oversee worship services, leading the music ministry and special events.

A native of Georgia, he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology from Baylor University and his MD from the Medical College of Georgia. He finished his residency in OB/GYN at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1999. He has been in private practice since then.

Matt has served in various other ministries including LIFE Group Leader (with his wife Bonnie), member of the finance team, and deacon. He and Bonnie have two sons, Alex and James.

Bonnie Lee

Director of Outreach Ministries

Bonnie Lee has been attending Northwest Baptist Church since 1995 when she and her husband, Matt, moved to Wisconsin from Georgia. Bonnie is the new Director of Outreach Ministries, transitioning from leading Discipleship Ministries for fourteen years.

In addition to working in the local church, Bonnie has enjoyed leadership roles in the Lakeland Baptist Association and on the Minnesota-Wisconsin Baptist Convention’s Discipleship Team where she has written several articles for the MWBC newspaper. At Northwest, Bonnie served as Grant Program Director, overseeing a one-year grant from the Calvin Institute for Christian Worship and, most recently, chaired the Pastor Search Committee. Bonnie is the Co-Founder and President of Learn for Life Kenya, a faith-based, registered nonprofit charitable organization, working towards economic development in Kenya through vocational skills and entrepreneurial training.

Bonnie and Matt have been married since 1992 and have two sons, Alex and James. Bonnie enjoys singing, reading, taking long walks, connecting with her Kenyan “family,” and sharing a cup of coffee with a friend.

Tawny Brooks

Tawny Brooks has been attending Northwest Baptist Church since 2000. She started serving in the Children’s Department as a nursery volunteer and was called to serve as Nursery/Preschool Director. In 2009, Northwest started an Awana club, and Tawny was a Sparks Leader and club Secretary until 2011 when she became club Commander. Tawny has also assisted with Children’s Choir, Children’s Church and VBS. In addition to her passion for children’s ministry, Tawny serves as a LIFE Group leader and a member of the Worship Enhancement Team.

Born and raised in the Milwaukee area, Tawny attended Hope College in Holland, Michigan and received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. In 2003, Tawny graduated from Marquette University Law School. After several years at a Wauwatosa law firm, Tawny opened her own law practice. Tawny currently serves on the Marquette Law Alumni Board and is active with the Public Interest Law Society annual auction and the Diversity Recruitment Committee.

Tawny and husband Scott have two children, Emma and Sam. Tawny regularly volunteers at her kids’ school and is a soccer mom in the spring and fall.

Paul Silva currently serves as Co-Leader of the NW Youth Ministry along with his wife Carlene.  During his 18 years as a member of Northwest Paul also served on the Worship Team and as a Deacon.  

A native of Southern California Paul moved to Wisconsin in 1996 and became a dedicated Packer Fan shortly thereafter.  He drives for XPO freight as a Regional Driver/Salesman during the day and loves spending free time with his two sons, Robert and Aaron.

Carlene Silva currently serves as Co-Leader of the NW Youth Ministry along with her husband Paul.  Their role includes leading Sunday Morning Bible Study as well as planning and attending multiple activities and service events with the Youth (7th – 12th grade) throughout the year.

In addition Carlene serves on the Personnel, Leadership, and Worship teams and formerly directed the Choir and led the Women’s Ministry.  

Carlene grew up in North Dakota/Montana but has been in Wisconsin since 1994.  Her day job as a Product Manager for a paint tool company keeps her busy during the day as do her two sons, Robert and Aaron.  

Stephanie Baumann

Stephanie Baumann began working as Northwest’s administrative assistant in March of 2013.

A native of Washington Island in Door County, Wisconsin, Stephanie received her associate of applied science degree in Early Childhood Education from Western Technical College in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She has been involved in children’s ministry, youth ministry, and worship ministry at several different churches, and has also worked as a nanny.

Stephanie and husband Ben married in 2002 and spent their early years of marriage in La Crosse. They returned to Stephanie’s hometown to work in youth ministry in 2008. After four years in Door County, Stephanie and Ben moved to the Milwaukee area, when Ben received a job as Worship Director at Meadowbrook Church in Wauwatosa.

When she’s not busy being a mom, Stephanie enjoys biking, swimming, and reading. Stephanie and Ben have two young children, Ella and Eli.
