Chapel & Office Renovation: Project Momentum Update – August 2026
Dear Northwest Baptist Church Family,
August brings some exciting news: the major Phase One work is complete! We are grateful for God’s provision and for the generosity, planning, and hard work that made these improvements possible.
If you’ve been in the Chapel and Office building recently, you may have already noticed the difference:
- The new HVAC system is installed and operating, making the Chapel and offices significantly more comfortable and welcoming.
- The new roof is complete, protecting the Chapel and addressing the leaks that helped make these repairs so important.
- The new water shut-off valve is already producing savings. With better control of water usage, we have seen a reduction in water consumption—and the resulting expense.
These may be practical improvements, but they allow us to better steward the facilities God has entrusted to us and provide a more welcoming place for ministry.
Great Work—and Great Stewardship
We also have some wonderful financial news to celebrate. At the beginning of Phase One, the estimated cost for the roof and HVAC projects was $74,500. Through Don Soderberg’s diligent work obtaining competitive bids and identifying quality contractors, both projects were completed for a total of $51,403. That’s a savings of $23,097 while still receiving excellent workmanship.
Praise God! We are grateful for His provision and for Don’s commitment to making every dollar entrusted to Northwest Baptist Church count.
Project Momentum Continues
Our congregation continues to respond generously. We have now received six additional gifts this summer through Project Momentum. Thank you to everyone who has continued to give as we build on the success of Phase One and prepare for what comes next.
And what comes next is about much more than buildings. As we look toward the future, we’re asking what God may be calling Northwest Baptist Church to do beyond our buildings, beyond this generation, and beyond today. How can our facilities support church planting and ministry outside our walls? How can we invest faithfully in our children, youth, young adults, and young families? And how can we strengthen discipleship today while preparing Northwest to faithfully proclaim the Gospel for years to come?
Those are questions we’ll be talking much more about soon.
Our fall campaign will officially kick off in October, and we look forward to sharing the larger vision with you then. Until then, thank you for your prayers, generosity, and faithful partnership. Watch for another Project Momentum update in September as we continue preparing together for what lies beyond.

Project Overview
Why are we undertaking this project now?
Our current Chapel and Office building is 66 years old (planted in 1957, built in 1959). It was built to a Texas design that is not suited for the Wisconsin climate. Key systems, including the roof and HVAC, have served far beyond their intended life and now require urgent attention to preserve the facility’s integrity.
Is this only about a roof?
No. The leadership team was charged to look beyond just fixing a roof. The goal is to align our facilities with the mission God has given Northwest Baptist Church (NWBC) right now. We are evaluating how this facility can best serve our current ministry needs and our Kingdom Partners.
Who are our Kingdom Partners?
We currently share our space with several partners who are more than just tenants; they are part of the work God is doing here:
– Word of Hope Community Church
– Desire of All Nations Church
– Christian Youth Theater
The Phased Plan
What was the motion approved in February 2026?
The church authorized a two-phase approach to the renovation of the Chapel Office Building to ensure wise stewardship and financial responsibility.
What is Phase 1?
Phase 1: Immediate Repairs
Goal: Raise approximately $80,000.
Scope: Repair and replacement of the Roof and HVAC systems.
Status: 5-week campaign “sprint” complete. Contractors have been selected. Scheduling the repairs is underway, and construction should begin soon.
What is Phase 2?
Phase 2: Capital Campaign & Interior Renovation
Goal: A total project goal of $450,000 (meaning an additional ~$370,000 after Phase 1).
Scope: Interior improvements, furnishings, and non-critical construction.
Contingency: Construction for Phase 2 is strictly contingent upon the pledges and receipts of the formal Capital Campaign.
